The Sarode and Tabla concert was a huge success!!

Thank you all for attending the First Indian Classical music concert brought by ktru!!

KTRU's very first Concert of Indian Classical music - drew a huge crowd on a Tuesday evening. Shankar Bhattacharyya's sarode and Sri Gourisankar's tabla mesmerized the audience. The selection of ragas was explained to the curious spectators by Shankar Bhattacharyya. The sawaal-jawab; dialogue between the instruments was fascinating!
Dr. Bhattacharyya recalled his time at his graduate school - Rice University. He fondly shared his very first day at Rice. " I looked at Sammy's and it reminded me of my very first day here at Rice. I was standing in line for food and a friend pointed out to me that the person ahead of us in line was the President of Rice, President and students all ate at the same place" he said.

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's film "Lahore" at the 42nd WorldFest Houston International Film Festival.

Check out Indian born director and screenwriter Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's debut film "Lahore" at the 42nd WorldFest Houston International Film Festival. Later this month the film will also be released at the AMC Studio 30 Dunvale.

The film is an action drama that explores the impact of sport and sportsmanship on the lives of people from India and Pakistan. The cast includes actors Farouque Shaikh, Nafisa Ali and Aanaahad.

Sarode - Tabla Concert on Tuesday April 21 2009, 8 pm. At Grand Hall, Rice Memorial Center, Rice University. Admission Free.

Brilliant performance by Laya Taal Saadhna at the ktru Outdoor show

The talented students gave a memorable performance that many of us present at the show will remember for a long time.
Pandit Shantilal Shah's four disciples gave irresistible delight for Indian tabla thus making the audience long for more at the 18th Annual ktru Outdoor Show.
